About the course

What it prepares you for

The Bachelor of Nursing is the degree that leads to work as a Registered Nurse, the nurse who plans and leads patient care in hospitals, clinics, aged care and the community.

It usually takes three years full time and combines theory with clinical placements in real health services.

If you already hold a Diploma of Nursing, many universities give you credit for it, so you can finish sooner.

Registration and next steps

  • To work as a Registered Nurse you must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through AHPRA. Only a degree accredited by ANMAC leads to registration, so check the university before you enrol.
  • The NMBA also sets an English requirement for registration, for example IELTS Academic 7.0 in each band.
